Changchun is the capital of Jilin province and is located in Northeast China. It is home to FAW, a large truck and car manufacturer. An FAW-Volkswagen joint-venture manufactures Jettas in Changchun. Tower Automotive, Delphi and Hella are also here.
Changchun is home to the largest group of optics institutes in China and is considered the birthplace of China's optics research. The technology development zone is recruiting foreign companies that manufacture products utilizing optics technology, such as LCD's. Foreign investment in biotechnology (including large-scale manufacturing of medicines and vaccines) and automotive manufacturing will also receive special incentives in the development zone.
